This is a super-wide format. It's not very tall, but the width is nearly two meters. A great painting for behind your sofa, or in a place where you don't have a lot of vertical height, but plenty of horizontal space.
The Chinese title is "Ma Dao, Cheng Gong". The first two characters can be translated directly as "Horses Arrival". The second two mean "Achievement" or "Success".
This is a famous saying in China. It probably started during the Tang Dynasty, and therefore, horses and horse ownership has been a sign of one's success for over a thousand years.
The artist's name is Yan Yong, from near Chengdu, China. He is a good friend of Huang Xin-An (an artist that we buy a lot of artwork from in Chengdu).
This is painted on xuan paper (rice paper) and mounted with a gold silk border at our workshop.
